There's a lot happening in the United States right now, and many of us are struggling to process everything in the news and taking place in our communities. Our children are taking in some of these things too! Just as we are struggling with current events, our children are trying to make sense of what they are hearing and the images they see. We need to help them in this process, or they will come up with their own narratives.
I came across this great resource today, from Autism Little Learners. They provide short social stories that address all sorts of everyday things, that are suitable for all young children.
In recent weeks, they have been really active creating stories that respond to current events and changes in our way of life. They've put out stories about protests, wearing masks in public, video chatting, and more--all for free!
These publications can be accessed at https://www.autismlittlelearners.com/, and are free with permission to distribute. While on the website, you might want to check out some of the other resources, they are just as wonderful.
